Jamaica bound

We accepted the contract offer from the American International School of Kingston for Der to be the Head of IT.  (Click on the school's name to go to the  website.)  He will also be teaching some IB Diploma classes.  He's very excited about the job, as they are looking at many different progressive tech options.  We're also excited about the opportunity to live in Jamaica.  Their culture and history sound fascinating and we can't wait to learn more about it, as well as explore the island.  Other than the job itself, the main reason we decided to go there is that it's much closer to home.  The flight will be short and it will be cheaper, definitely cheaper than flying from Chile.  Plus, we should be able to convince people to come and visit us there!!  ;)  We'll find out the good places to stay and we'll share the info for anyone who'd like to come visit.

The bad thing is that the country does not allow dogs in and Simba is very much part of our family. …

Book Club

This month, we read Doreen Orion's Queen of the Road for our book club book.  We got together last Wednesday and Michelle and Linda arranged to talk with the author.  It was a good chat and we enjoyed discussing the book and talking with the author.

We were her first international book club so she blogged about us and included our picture.  Here's the link:

Wow!

This last week has been hectic in our household, to say the least. We've been trying to get our holiday down south organized but have been held up by car rental issues. Hopefully that'll be dealt with today so I can book the apartments or cabins for most of the trip.

Last Thursday, Simba went in for his surgery. This was the third time he had the cancerous growth on his lip removed but this time, the doctor took much more tissue in the hopes that he'll get the cancer removed once and for all. Simba came through it well. He has many more stitches this time and has to wear the plastic cone for 10 days. We go today for his 5-day-post-op appointment and then after 10 days the stitches come out and we'll find out the results of the biopsy. Let's hope that this is it!

Then Thursday night, we were eating dinner and Aidan didn't want to. So we let him out of his chair while we finished eating. He decided he wanted up and wanted to try some veggies. He had a s…
